Five Installation Tips for Wheel Arrangement

After the installation of the casters is completed, a reasonable arrangement can not only improve the mobility efficiency of the equipment, but also extend its service life. According to different usage requirements, the following are 5 common caster layout techniques:
1. Slight steering requirement: front and rear hybrid layout
If the device mainly moves in a straight line but occasionally requires slight adjustment of direction, it is recommended to use a layout of “front orientation, rear turning”.
Recommended configuration:
Install two directional casters at one end (non steerable)
Install two swivel casters on the other end (which can rotate freely)
This can maintain linear stability and achieve easy turning.
2. High maneuverability requirement: omnidirectional rotating arrangement
When the device needs to rotate flexibly and turn in place, full universal casters can be used for layout.
Recommended configuration:
Universal casters are installed in all four corners
Notes:
Strong maneuverability, but difficult to control
It is recommended that the load-bearing capacity should not be too heavy to ensure safety
3. Heavy duty equipment: Six wheel arrangement is more stable
For heavy or high resistance equipment, it is recommended to use a six wheel arrangement that balances stability and steering ability.
Recommended configuration:
Four corner installation of universal casters
Install two directional casters in the middle of the long side, slightly larger in size than the universal wheels
This arrangement can maintain equipment balance while achieving good steering performance.
4. Cost optimization: Four rotation arrangement
If the budget is limited but you want to balance maneuverability and load capacity, you can use a “diamond” layout.
Recommended configuration:
Install two directional casters in the middle of the long side
Install two universal casters at both ends of the short side
This structure forms a stable “diamond shaped” support, which not only saves costs but also meets basic mobility needs.
5. Light load short distance: four-wheel directional arrangement
For devices with light load and short distance movement, fully directional caster arrangement can be used, which is simple and practical.
Recommended configuration:
Four directional casters
The size of the two wheels on the long side is slightly larger than that of the wheels on the short side, in order to achieve slight turning
Suitable for short distance handling tasks on flat surfaces such as warehouses and workshops.
Summary:
The arrangement of casters should be flexibly selected based on factors such as load weight, movement distance, and turning frequency. Reasonable caster configuration can not only improve work efficiency, but also effectively reduce equipment wear and operational risks.
