Installation Key Points of Industrial Castors

Choosing the specifications of the wheels is just the first step, however correct installation is the key point to ensure the flexibility of the trolley (or equipment) movement and extend the life of the wheels.
1.What is installation height ?
1). Top plate type (universal/directional) casters
Installation height=the vertical distance from the bottom of the installation plate to the low point of the wheel, which is the size at which the equipment is lifted after the wheels are installed.
2). Threaded stem type casters (including screw brake wheels)
There are two dimensions to distinguish:
A. Total height – from the top of the screw to the bottom of the wheel
B. Installation height – from the bottom of the equipment to the low point of the wheel
The thickness of the equipment bottom varies, and the B value will change. It is necessary to calculate in advance to avoid height mismatch after installation.
2.  5 Core Installation Precautions
1). Maintain  horizontal
The whole machine must be in a horizontal state before locking the wheels to avoid deformation of the bracket caused by one-sided force.
2). The swivel axis of the universal wheel is perpendicular to the ground
Skewed installation will increase rotational resistance, promote “deviation”, and exacerbate bearing wear.
3). Tighten the fasteners after they fit properly
-Select bolts, gaskets, and spring washers that match the installation aperture
-Use a torque wrench to tighten according to the manufacturer’s recommended torque. If it is too tight, the shaft will crack, and if it is too loose, it will shake
4). Release the brake wheel first and then install it
If the screws are tightened in the locked state of the brake, the brake pads will be compressed and deformed, and later there may be brake failure or abnormal noise.
5). Matching with the same specifications
Try to use universal and directional wheels of the same brand, material, and diameter on a vehicle to ensure even load distribution and smooth driving.
3.  2 essential actions after installation
1). Idle pushing: Check whether the steering is flexible and whether there is any jamming
2). Full load pushing: observe whether there is shaking, abnormal noise or brake failure
Confirming that everything is normal before starting formal work can effectively avoid rework in the later stage. Wishing you a smooth installation and longevity of the wheels!
