Rigid Caster Wheels (5 Inch, 250 kg, Iron Core PU) — EH08-11-125R-402

Rigid Caster Wheels (5 Inch, 250 kg, Iron Core PU) — EH08-11-125R-402

Most people think every caster should swivel. They are wrong. Put four swivel casters on a 2-meter-long cart and it wanders all over the aisle — operators end up fighting the cart instead of pushing it. The fix is not better bearings. It is putting rigid castors at one end and swivel at the other.

This page covers the EH08-11-125R-402: a 5 inch rigid (fixed) top-plate caster with a cast iron core polyurethane wheel, ball bearing, and blue zinc plated steel bracket. It is the straight-rolling workhorse you pair with a swivel caster on factory trolleys, machine bases and container chassis.

Who Makes These Rigid Casters?

Globe Caster — Foshan Global Caster Co., Ltd, Guangdong, China — has been making casters and castors since 1988. Our 156,000 m² facility runs in-house stamping, injection molding and PU pouring lines — bracket, core and tread all under one roof. We supply 21,000+ model combinations to distributors and OEMs, with 600+ standard SKUs held in stock and a typical 30-day lead time. Certified ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, with a 12-month warranty on every caster we ship.

Product Overview: EH08-11-125R-402

Why Rigid Casters Matter (and When to Use Them)

A rigid caster is a fixed wheel that rolls straight forward and back — it does not turn. That sounds like a limitation until you understand how carts actually move.

On a cart longer than about 1 meter, putting four swivel casters creates a problem: every wheel wants to go its own way, and the cart crabs sideways on the slightest bump. The standard industrial layout is two rigid casters at the trailing end and two swivel casters at the leading end. The rigid wheels track straight; the swivel wheels do the steering. The cart pushes straight, turns predictably, and does not wander.

Rigid casters also carry slightly more load per wheel than swivel casters of the same size, because there is no swivel raceway to deflect. If your cart runs mostly in straight lines on a known aisle, rigid wheels last longer and roll truer.

What You Cannot See Matters

1. Cast iron core, not plastic

The 402 wheel uses a cast iron core pressure-bonded to a solid PU tread. Under a sustained 250 kg load, the iron core does not deform. The red PU outer tread is oil-resistant, runs quietly, and will not mark epoxy, vinyl or sealed concrete floors.

2. Ball bearing in the wheel hub

The wheel itself runs on a ball bearing, not a plain bore. Push effort stays low even at full load — operators pushing a 700 kg cart notice the difference on day one, not after a year. Because this is a rigid caster, the bearing only has to handle rolling, not side-loading swivel forces.

3. Blue zinc plated bracket

The steel bracket is stamped from heavy-gauge sheet, welded, then electroplated blue zinc. It is a fixed U-shaped fork — no swivel raceway, no moving parts to loosen. For indoor warehouse and workshop use, blue zinc is the right cost-performance choice. For wet washdown or outdoor salt air, ask about stainless or e-coat variants.

Where These Rigid Casters Go

  • Factory trolleys and roll containers (paired with swivel at the handle end)
  • Industrial machinery base frames and equipment enclosures
  • Warehouse order-picking carts and material handling dollies
  • Mobile workstations and generator housings
  • Any cart that runs mostly straight in a defined aisle

How to Spec the Right Rigid + Swivel Mix

Step 1: Decide the cart layout

Standard push cart under 1.2 m long: 2 swivel + 2 rigid. Long cart over 1.2 m: 2 swivel at the handle end, 2 rigid at the far end. Very narrow aisle or frequent tight turns: 4 swivel with brakes.

Step 2: Size the load per wheel

Divide gross cart weight by the number of casters, then add a 30–50% safety margin. A 700 kg cart on four wheels needs roughly 225 kg per wheel at even load — so spec a 250 kg caster like this EH08-11-125R-402.

Step 3: Match the wheel to the floor

Sealed concrete or epoxy → iron core PU (this page). Rough outdoor concrete → harder PU or nylon. Greasy environments → check with us for chemical resistance. Hot surfaces above 90 °C → high-temperature PU variant on request.

Step 4: Confirm the plate hole pattern

The top plate is 114 × 100 mm, with an 84 × 71 mm hole pitch and 11 mm bolt holes. Confirm your equipment’s welded plate matches before drilling — we send a 2D drawing with every quotation.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between a rigid caster and a swivel caster?

A: A rigid caster is fixed — it rolls straight forward and back and does not turn. A swivel caster rotates 360° and can turn in any direction. On most carts you use both: swivel at the steering end, rigid at the trailing end.

Q: Can I use four rigid casters on a cart?

A: Only if the cart always moves in a perfectly straight line and you never need to turn. In practice, four rigid wheels cannot turn at all — you would have to lift and drag the cart. Always pair rigid with swivel on a push cart.

Q: Is the iron core polyurethane tread safe on epoxy floors?

A: Yes. The 95 Shore A PU tread is non-marking and oil-resistant. It will not blacken or scuff clean workshop floors the way hard rubber or nylon wheels can.

Q: Can you OEM with our logo and packaging?

A: Yes. We are a factory-direct caster and castor manufacturer. Custom logo marking on the bracket legs, wheel hardness, bracket surface finish and mixed SKUs per container can be arranged subject to MOQ. Most OEM orders run on a 30-day lead time.

Q: What is the lead time for EH08 rigid casters?

A: Stock models ship within 30 days. Custom bracket finishes or special diameters take longer — we confirm the exact date with your quotation.

Warranty and Support

Every caster we sell comes with a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects — bad welds, bearing failure, tread delamination, plating issues. We keep batch records so if something fails, we trace it to the production run. Because we control stamping, molding and PU pouring in-house, we can modify brackets, wheel diameters and tread compounds to your drawing.
